Graft ft. Cole - I See You

Graft has just dropped a brand new single from his EP '5 Roses', the track features an upcoming singer Cole who sings some notes during the track. During the first verse of the track, Graft says "grafting 9-5 at their jobs or even uni, college, school, I see you revising" reflecting to us that Graft see's how hard the women are working and how they are trying so hard to get to where they want to be, by grinding at their jobs, at university, college or school, he understands that revision can be stressful and takes a lot of time and effort to graft hard at it. Graft then mentions "so motivated, so dedicated, that good life your gonna get it soon" referring that because she is working so hard and has the motivation to keep pushing herself, then the life that she is working towards will soon be hers, because all the work she has been putting in will pay off. Later in the verse, Graft mentions "as soon as I stepped in, you had eyes on like who's he" referring that Graft felt as though when she first saw him, she was making eye contact that made Graft feel like she was thinking who is he? and that maybe she liked him. Graft then says "so we're talking now and you tell me about yourself, and I'm stood there listening closely, cos I know that these things that you're saying are for me and my eardrums only" referring to us that Graft recognises that she would not go round telling anyone about what she is telling Graft, and he understands that he should respect that by listening closely to what she is telling him.

The music remains slow and calm paced throughout the track, it utilises the speed and tone of the lyrics to mate the melody and lyrics together to form a slow and gentle rhythm which combines perfectly together. As Graft starts his verse, we hear the bass tell us that there is going to be a change in the pace of the melody, the bass and hi-hats let us know that the melody has become much more fast-paced and more energetic, to show that this sequence of the track is more up-beat. The flow of Graft works perfectly during some sequences of the track, for example '1:11' during the track the beat is cut into separate sections, and Graft is able to utilise this unique part of the track to make his vocals seem like there are also gaps there, when it is just like any part of the track.

The music video directed by 'chrisbromcam' and shot by 'daveomusic' gives the audience a clear insight to what Graft has been feeling and the narrative of the track. During the video we can see loads of different shot types; slo-motion cutaway shots, tracking shots, medium shots, tilting shots, establishing shots and more, this gives clear diversity in each scene to show us the creativity behind the camera. The video cuts constantly from Graft and Cole to the girl, to show continuity and telling the audience the story whilst showing Graft and Cole rapping.
